It must be Spring because ...

It must be Spring because ...

... it's nearly Apple Blossom time...

... the hosepipe is soft and bendy in my hands ...

... the wooden garden garden gate is warm to the touch ...

... my jacket is off and hanging on a tree ...

... there are baby birds just fledging ...

( This newly fledged Blackbird had flown into the greenhouse today, by mistake, closely followed by its mother. Luckily I caught it easily and released it outside with no harm done ! )

... the air is full of birdsong ...

... I can feel the sun on my back ...

... the nettles are knee high apparently by magic ...

... the greenhouse is bursting at the seams ...

...  dandelions mock me from every bed

... I can hear mowers in the other gardens ...

... there are bees and butterflies in the air ...

... the ponds need topping up ...

... my back is aching ...

... and these lovely boys are back ...

Tulips

Hosta

Bergenia

Mahonia

Clematis Montana Rubens 'Pink perfection' - just before take-off !

I would love to hear how you know that Spring has arrived.

  1. You just about covered it, and quite lyrically, I might add. I can only contribute this thought: the acquisition obsession is in full flower, with plant sales, swaps and road trips to nurseries stoking the flames.

  2. Thanks for your comments, Ricki. So true about the acquisition obsession. I don't know why I don't just cut out the middle man and get my salary paid straight to our nearest nursery !

  3. The hedgerows are green, the house Martins have arrived and the frogs are croaking.

  4. Aye to all of those ! Some of the hedgerows around us are still not greened up ! Very late! Watching the skies for the swallows and House Martins ...

  5. I loved this post. I could relate to almost all of them. What a sweet little bird, but he doesn't look too happy. I know spring has arrived because.... I'm so far behind! ;)

  6. have just posted a comment on your lovely new post !

I am overwhelmed by stuff to do too - patches of nettles are springing up overnight, or so it seems. the plants are growing strongly but so are the weeds !

The baby Blackbird was NOT happy when it was trapped in the greenhouse, but cheered up as soon as he was free !
